Muslims! Have taqwa And worship Him in secret and in public, and repent to Him that you may be successful. Said Allah, Praise be to Him: "A good word ascends to Him, and a good deed lifts it up".
Believers! the good word (al kalima tajiba) is man's courage as it reveals what his conscience, heart and chest conceal, such as hatred, ignorance, hypocrisy or imam. This very word shows the purity of his heart and the soundness of his mind. That is why the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him say good or remain silent". It is said that people are hidden under their tongues.
O servants of Allah, a good word is gain, and an evil word is a misdeed. And Allah Praised be He set an example for both in the Qur'an saying: "Do you not see how Allah compares the good word to a good tree whose root is firm and whose branches are in the sky? It yields its fruit in every age by the permission of its Lord. Allah sets examples for men so that they may remember. But a bad word is like a bad tree that is unrooted in the earth, without stability.
Believers! A good word has good in it, and the human being will be rewarded for it. A bad word carries with it evil, obscenity and indecency. The one who utters it reaps nothing but evil. For the people of Tafsir the good word is La ilaha ila Allah, and no other word equals it. For the Prophet ﷺ said, "The best that I and the prophets before me have said was La ilaha ila Allah". La ilaha ila Allah is the key to the Garden, and that which enables you to come out of the darkness of disbelief into the light of Islam and the Sunnah. Through this word you cleanse your heart of the shirkAnd with it you come from ignorance to knowledge. It is the one whose root is firm and whose branch is in heaven. That is why it is present in every act of worship. In the adhanin the iqamain prayer, etc. The following are considered as good words: good tidings, advice or joy by which you ease the pain of your brother, or by which you soothe the heart of every confused and lost person or warn those who are lost, or teach the ignorant. All these are among the good words that Allah ascends to the best of places. To Him ascend good words, and righteous deed will elevate it. The good word is the pillar to call to the way of Allah. That is why the Prophet ﷺ narrated it as. sadaqah and said: "Protect yourselves from the fire, even with half a date, and if you do not have one, then with a good word. A good word is one that is enjoyed by the senses and does not overwhelm human nature or common sense.
Muslims! Giving money and giving good words are similar as both bring joy to the heart. Though good word is more useful than money as the latter fades away. Allah praised be He says: "A good word and forgiveness is better than charity followed by harm". And with the good word, the Prophet ﷺ conveyed the message, and with it opened hearts. Allah be praised says: "By a mercy from Allah, you were gentle with them; if you had been harsh, hard-hearted, they would have turned away from around you.". And he said to Musa and Harun when he sent them to Fir'aun: "And speak to him in a gentle way, maybe he will come to his senses and keep his head. Servants of Allah, the fruit of Islam is good words and good deeds. Says the Qur'an: "and say good to the people".. The Prophet ﷺ says: "The Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe.. He started with the tongue because it hurts more than the hand. It is said that any wound heals, but that of the tongue cannot be healed. Therefore weigh your words, O man, before you speak them. If they are good, say them, and if they are a secret, keep them. If talk is as silver, silence is gold. And say only what you will be pleased to find in your book tomorrow.
Allahummah, protect our tongues from all blasphemy, obscenity and evil. And guide our words and deeds. Protect our limbs from all vice, beautify our words, and make us of those who hear speech and follow the best of it. Amin.
